Uma can spell “pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis” without batting an eye. This word is an obscure term related to the lungs, and it is no surprise that Uma, who would eventually like to study and practice medicine, was drawn to learning it. In the fourth grade, Uma won first place in her school’s science fair for a project that she designed on DNA. Uma plays violin and piano, and she expects to be a black belt in tae kwon do in the near future. Uma also has a knack for geography; when she was only 2 years old, she could point to more than 40 countries on the world map.
